Lakeside Walks & Nature Engagement - Wokingham
Project type
Lakeside Walks & Nature Engagement - Wokingham
We transport and support young people to enjoy guided walks around local lakes and nature areas — calm, open environments where fresh air, movement, and connection with nature support overall wellbeing. Activities may include gentle lakeside walks, feeding ducks (where appropriate), observing wildlife, and quiet reflection in a safe and supervised setting.
These sessions are tailored to each young person’s needs, offering both structure and flexibility while encouraging independence and emotional regulation.
Lakeside experiences support:
Emotional wellbeing and regulation – natural environments can reduce anxiety, promote calmness, and provide space to process feelings safely.
Communication and social interaction – through shared conversation, turn-taking (e.g. feeding ducks safely), and cooperative exploration.
Confidence and independence – by navigating outdoor spaces, making choices, and engaging in activities at their own pace.
Environmental awareness and responsibility – learning about wildlife, respecting nature, and understanding safe and appropriate feeding practices.
Physical wellbeing – gentle walking and outdoor movement support healthy routines and sensory regulation.
